I can really thank the Lord for my salvation. On the 4th January 2002 at 10.45pm I was baptised by full immersion and five minutes later received the Holy Spirit as the Bible instructs all to do.

I knew I had received the Holy Spirit because I spoke in tongues — another language which I had never learned, an experience in which the early disciples of Jesus had experienced as outlined in the Bible (Acts Chapter 2). Having never been to church nor believed in God before, I could straight away testify that Jesus was real and immediately I knew that I was part of God's big plan.

Previous to this life changing experience, I was someone always looking for something to make me content in my life, always temporarily trying to fill the gap with drugs, alcohol, smoking, partying and music - I was a dance music club DJ. Looking back now, I see that no amount of life's passing fun could ever satisfy me and give me the comfort I had desired within my heart. When I received the Holy Spirit, the Lord instantly took away these worldly pleasures and has given me a peace like no other, a real peace that can never be obtained any other way.

The Lord has blessed my life beyond measure! I was once fearful of death — but no longer. He gives me confidence every day I look to him. He has healed my body of many things including chronic back pain. He has provided a wonderful wife and three beautiful, healthy kids. It's great living in the safety and security of the Lord and wouldn't have it any other way.

In these days, when you look around, the world is really quite a sad place in which to find happiness, but the Lord gives life to those who seek Him and do as He commands - I can't praise the Lord enough for choosing me.
