What does your Church believe?

We are a Bible-believing Christian church that teaches and follows the Word of God as it is written. We believe the Bible is God’s truth and does not need to be changed, modernised, or softened to remain relevant today.

The Revival Fellowship began in Australia over 70 years ago and now has local fellowships around the world. We believe in living Christianity — not religion based on tradition alone, but a genuine, personal relationship with God that brings real change to people’s lives.

We believe in the Salvation Message taught by Jesus Christ and preached by the apostles: that to be saved, a person must repent, be baptised by full immersion in water, and receive the Holy Spirit. The Bible shows that the evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

At the heart of our faith is Jesus Christ — His teachings, His sacrifice, His resurrection, and His promise of new life for all who seek Him.

Why is a Holy Spirit Church different?

A Holy Spirit church believes that God is active and working in people’s lives today — just as He was in the New Testament church.

The Bible shows that when people received the Holy Spirit, they were empowered by God in a real and personal way. This same experience continues today, bringing spiritual strength, guidance, peace, and transformation.

We believe Christianity is more than belief alone — it is about being changed by God through His Spirit.

Visiting your Church, what should I expect?

When you visit a Revival Fellowship meeting, you can expect a welcoming, family-friendly environment made up of people of all ages and backgrounds.

Our meetings include Bible-based preaching, prayer, chorus singing, and personal testimonies of lives changed by God. There is no pressure to participate and no special clothing required.

Many people describe our fellowship as feeling like a big family — warm, genuine, and supportive.

What is speaking in tongues?

Speaking in tongues is a personal prayer language given by God when a person receives the Holy Spirit. We see this experience throughout the New Testament, including on the Day of Pentecost:

“And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
Acts 2:4

At the Revival Fellowship, we believe speaking in tongues is the Bible evidence that a person has received the Holy Spirit, just as it was for believers in the early church (Acts 10:44–46; Acts 19:6).

Do you understand what you are saying?

No. When we pray in tongues, we are not choosing or composing the words ourselves. The Bible describes it as speaking to God rather than to people:

“For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him…”
1 Corinthians 14:2

That is one of the wonderful things about this gift. Our prayer is not limited by our own vocabulary, understanding or ability to explain what we are feeling.

Why do Christians pray in tongues?

Speaking in tongues is much more than the initial sign of receiving the Holy Spirit. It becomes an ongoing part of our Christian life and our personal prayer.

Jude encourages believers to:

“Build up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost.”
Jude 20

The Bible also tells us that the Spirit helps us when we don't know how to pray about a situation:

“The Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought…”
Romans 8:26

Prayer in the Spirit helps us to build our faith, strengthen our relationship with God and pray through circumstances where our own words may fall short.

Is speaking in tongues something you only do at church?

Not at all. For a Spirit-filled Christian, praying in tongues is primarily a personal prayer language and can be used anywhere — at home, in the car, during difficult circumstances, or simply as part of everyday prayer.

It is one of the practical ways God has given us to stay spiritually strengthened and connected with Him throughout our lives.

Can anyone receive the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues?

Yes. The promise of the Holy Spirit was never intended for a select few. On the Day of Pentecost, Peter said:

“Repent, and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost… For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off…”
Acts 2:38–39

We believe the same experience described in the Bible is available to people today.

How can I be right with God?

The Bible teaches that being right with God begins with faith in Jesus Christ and obedience to His Word.

Jesus taught that a person must believe the gospel, repent, be baptised by full immersion in water, and receive the Holy Spirit. This is the same message preached by the apostles in the early church.

God does not ask us to be perfect — He asks us to come to Him sincerely.

Why do we baptize by full immersion?

We baptise by full immersion because this is the example clearly shown in the Bible.

Jesus Himself was baptised in water, and baptism symbolises the old life being buried and a new life beginning in Christ.

Full immersion reflects obedience to Jesus’ teaching and represents a personal decision to follow God wholeheartedly.

Do you take Communion?

We believe communion is meaningful, but we understand it differently from traditional ritual observance.

Rather than practising communion as a formal ceremony, we focus on living daily in remembrance of Jesus Christ — through obedience, faith, and a transformed life.

When communion is taken, we do not use alcohol. Instead, grape juice is used to represent the blood of Christ. We do not use ritualistic wafers, but rather a simple piece of broken cracker, reflecting the simplicity of the New Testament church.

You will find no ritual in what we do — only remembrance and quiet contemplation of what Jesus sacrificed for us, and an opportunity to reflect on whether we have done our best to walk in His ways during the past week.

Do you have a Sunday School?

Yes — we offer Sunday School for children.

Our program provides age-appropriate Bible teaching in a safe and caring environment. Children learn about God in a positive, engaging way while parents attend the main meeting.

Families are an important part of our fellowship, and we value supporting parents as they raise their children with strong moral and spiritual foundations.

What does being ‘Born Again’ mean?

Being “born again” means experiencing a spiritual new beginning with God.

Jesus taught that a person must be born again — not physically, but spiritually. This happens when someone is baptised in water and receives the Holy Spirit, just as described in the Bible.

Being born again is about transformation — becoming a new person with God’s Spirit guiding your life.
